Telemachus

IMG_7331 2.JPG

The Prince of Ithaca, son of Odysseus and Penelope, defending his mother's honor while they await his father's return.

"Telemachus, you’ll lack neither courage nor sense from this day on, not if your father’s spirit courses through your veins."

The Odyssey, Book 2

Process Work

Right: Sketching out the potential composition. One version of this piece incorporated Athena as a watchful figure in the clouds, but I decided to have her as an owl backed by the sun instead.

Below: Lineart, cleaning up the characters.

My goal with this composition was to create a flow that would lead us back to Telemachus, the main character of the piece. The clouds, the animals, the posing - I wanted the eye to always end up at Telemachus.
