Riddles in the Forest

A lost traveller seeks direction from a sage of the enchanted forest.

Painting​​ traditionally with gouache is a good opportunity to experiment with brush techniques to achieve different textures!    

Process Work

Below: A sculpey model of the tree character I created in order to shoot lighting references.

This character was such an odd shape in such a specific lighting scenario that I decided it would actually be easier to go the extra mile and make an exact reference to go off of!
