Halthir

A quietly ambitious young prince, more interested in learning the ways of magic than court duties.

Character studies from reference always make for great pose and anatomy practice, as well as being a design challenge.
Process Work

Right: Sketching from reference. Because I had trouble with the pose, I initially traced the reference's build to get a feel for the shapes, and then tried to rebuild it from scratch for my own sketch.

Below: Eye and face studies. Sharp and distinct facial features are tricky, so I spent some time experimenting with shapes to see what worked best.
Making this pose flow naturally was the biggest challenge - I loved the mood of the reference, but wanted to ensure that the very choreographed position didn't look too awkward.
