Cés and Favï

The inventors' boy and the farmer's girl.
Eldest son and eldest daughter.
She fell first, he fell harder.
"Why do people climb mountains?
Is it just to reach the top and see the view?
Well, I'll tell you something -
Every rock and every river,
Every sore and every splinter -
I would climb every mountain with you."
- The Mountain Song, Tophouse
Process Work

Right: A moodboard to reference lighting, color, and perspective, and the resulting thumbnail sketch. At this point, the idea is loose and sketching is focused on movement and proportions.
Below: Lineart. In this particular piece, I chose to only do clean lineart for the characters, because I wanted to play with the organic background in a more painterly way.

Nailing down the gesture and pose of these two characters was the most important part of this piece; I wanted to show the giddy, joyful closeness of two people in love.
